Museum

The thing I found most interesting at the museum in Belgium was that they first used walrus tusks for ivory. i would’ve never thought they would use walrus tusks. I think it is interesting that they found a use and need for ivory so early on in time and that they didn’t see a problem with it, unlike today where it it illegal to poach animals for ivory.

I also found it interesting that they used walrus tusks for ivory. Usually, when I think of of ivory, I think of elephants and definitely not walrus. I find it interesting that they have used ivory throughout its history.

I also thought it was interesting that they used walrus for ivory. But during this time they were making things out of material that we normally don’t see today. I’m curious if using elephant tusks for ivory was used during that same time period.

It’s really interesting how they choose which materials would be used for different art/jewelry pieces and how sought after ivory became after this.
